It stands at the entrance to the much visited Hoellental gorge. Her patron saint is the godmother Mary. Mr. Benedikt Bader wanted to arrange a consecrated place for "his hometown" and donated this chapel of Mary, which was consecrated on 5 March 1901. For the inhabitants of Hammersbach the chapel is the spiritual centre of the village. They appreciate and care for their chapel. But many hikers also begin or end their day tour with a visit to the Blessed Mother and light a candle.
In summer there is a mass every 14 days, on Friday at 7 p.m., alternating with the Josef chapel in Untergrainau.
