Dreifaltigkeitskapelle | Gröben

a simple rectangular room with a flat ceiling and a recessed choir arch

The Holy Trinity Chapel in Gröben is a simple rectangular room with a flat ceiling and a recessed choir arch. The altarpiece was donated by Franz Anton Strele in 1758. On a high pedestal there is a simple panel with a lateral column, a straight end and a gable-shaped curved top with scroll-shaped ornaments. The painting of the so-called Seven Refuges shows at the top the three persons of the Holy Trinity, in the center the Holy Eucharist, flanked by the Crucified and Mary and Joseph, venerated by St. Francis and St. Anthony, surrounded by a number of saints (including Raphael, Michael, Sebastian, John Baptist), by the pope and bishop. Next to the coat of arms of Strelle there is the inscription: "Franz Antoni Strelle had this picture made in honor of the Holy Trinity and 7 curses and worshipped it as a hero. Anno 1758". The upper painting shows St. Aloisius. The figures at the side of the column, St. Joseph on the left and St. John the Evangelist on the right, were made around 1760. The sculpture of the Madonna on the crescent moon was created by Franz Xaver Renn around 1850.
