AB99 - Destination development Zugspitz Arena Bavaria-Tyrol

A project by the INTERREG V-A programme Austria-Bavaria 2014-2020

The INTERREG V-A Programme Austria - Bavaria 2014 - 2020 is one of 60 cross-border programmes within the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC). The regions involved in the programme are: The Free State of Bavaria, Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg and Upper Austria. Around € 54.5 million had been made available from the European Regional Development Fund for the INTERREG Programme Austria-Bavaria 2014 - 2020. The programme is divided into three thematic priorities (funding priorities), with a total of seven specific objectives, to which each project must contribute in order to be eligible. This contribution is measured inter alia by defined results and output indicators. The Zugspitz Arena Bavaria-Tyrol Association submitted a project proposal within the context of this programme and was granted approval to participate at the end of 2015.

Project measures:

  • The development of a common guest card for the entire destination
  • Expansion of car-free mobility within the cross-border destination
  • Cooperative sales and marketing of the Zugspitz Arena Bavaria-Tyrol Association partners
  • Development of a cross-border circular cycling route - "Zugspitze-8"
  • Development of trail running - region Zugspitze
  • Implementation of a cross-border summer festival
  • Uniform information systems throughout the entire destination
  • Personnel costs and office costs

Total planned cost:    € 890,000                        

Approved funding:      € 660,000     

Priority axis: Promotion of cooperation in legal and administrative matters and cooperation between citizens and institutions.

Specific objective: Building and strengthening a long-term and structural cross-border cooperation for stronger social and economic integration as well as the dismantling of administrative and logistical barriers.
